Pambazuko la Wanawake Magharibi (PALAWAMA) is a women's movement that has been operating since 2006 with the objective of voicing women and girls’ rights in the Western region of Kenya. Its areas of operation include sexual and gender based violence, FGM, land and property rights for women, forced inheritance of widows, teenage pregnancies and marriages of girls leading to school drop outs, women leadership and economic opportunities.

With membership in all Counties of the Western region, the organization currently comprises of about 2,500 members who are grassroot women and girls in the rural areas, and supported by male change agents. PALAWAMA however reaches more 10,000 people in their interventions. These include campaigns and advocacy in eradication of violence against women and girls; supporting women and girls' participation in decision making and governance processes including leadership through trainings, mentorship, and campaigns; ensuring gender responsive policies through lobbying for their formulation both at county and national levels in collaboration with other players; accelerating economic capacity of women to access and utilize funds through mobilization, training, and mentorship.
