Green Institute
AFI Grantee

Green Institute is a registered Private Voluntary Organization (PVO 189/26) rooted in Chipinge District, Zimbabwe. It is a community-driven initiative dedicated to strengthening climate resilience and empowering marginalized groups, ensuring that women, youths, children, and people with disabilities are placed at the center of development and decision-making. Its mission is to help communities adapt to the realities of climate change while promoting sustainable livelihoods that are both inclusive and sustainable.
Through practical initiatives such as spring box water systems for clean drinking water, community agroecology gardens that empower women, and beekeeping projects in Chirinda Forest that balance livelihoods with biodiversity conservation, the Institute demonstrates how grassroot solutions can drive long-term sustainability. Beyond these, it is also investing in green skills training for youths, equipping them with knowledge in agroecology, renewable energy, and sustainable practices to prepare them for future opportunities in the green economy.
Guided by principles of local ownership, empowerment, and alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals, the Green Institute blends hands-on community work with broader policy advocacy, amplifying rural voices in national and global climate conversations.
