Hereafter Ghana is a non-profit organization founded in 2013 by Alimatu Nuhu Sadia, a young woman (then 19). The organisation is based in Tamale, Northern region of Ghana, with a mission to provide social support and empowerment to vulnerable people and communities across Ghana.

Through passion, dedication and collective effort, Hereafter Ghana has made tangible impacts in health, education, youth and women empowerment, and charity. Paying hospital bills for over 200 stranded patients; conducting free medical outreaches in hard-to-reach communities; enrolling over 8,000 children, pregnant women, and the aged under the National Health Insurance Scheme; supporting underserved schools and communities with over 100 dual desks and essential teaching and learning materials; providing start-up capital to women; and offering monthly stipends to orphans to sustain their education and welfare. Remarkably, all these have been achieved through the power of local resource mobilization, volunteerism, and community trust

Hereafter Ghana operates in four thematic areas: Health, Education, Women Economic Empowerment, and Charity drives.

Health -

Health remains at the heart of Hereafter Ghana’s mission, grounded in the belief that access to quality healthcare is a fundamental human right. Through targeted health interventions, particularly in the Northern Region of Ghana, the organization has supported vulnerable populations with medical care, insurance registration, and community-based health services. Their Health Financing Project has supported over 200 patients across Ghana with financial assistance for their surgeries, emergency treatments, and maternal care - helping beneficiaries settle expensive hospital bills and preventing catastrophic health expenditures.

Since 2021, their flagship 'One Child, One NHIS Card' initiative has registered more than 8,000 vulnerable individuals such as children, pregnant women, and the elderly, onto Ghana’s National Health Insurance Scheme, improving access to essential healthcare. Complementing this, Hereafter Ghana has organized over 55 free health outreach programs in over 40 rural communities, providing screenings, consultations, medicines, and referrals to over 13,000 people, under its Community Health Outreach Project. Supported by over 100 volunteer health professionals, these efforts have enhanced preventive health education, reduced untreated illnesses, and strengthened healthcare access for underserved communities.

Quality Basic Education -

Education is a core pillar of Hereafter Ghana’s mission, rooted in the belief that learning is the strongest foundation for development. The organization's education-focused programmes aim to enhance access to quality learning, particularly in rural Northern Ghana where school infrastructure, teaching and learning materials, and teacher capacity remain limited. Through the 'Seats for Success' project, they have provided over 100 classroom desks and chairs, along with uniforms, textbooks, stationery, and other learning essentials to underserved schools in the region. This initiative has improved learning conditions for over 8,500 pupils, improving attendance, academic performance, and learning environment for effective teaching and learning. Complementing this, the 'Back-to-School' project annually equips vulnerable children with school kits, packed with bags, books, pens, pencils, crayons, and shoes. So far, over 800 pupils have benefited, with more than 500 receiving full kits in 2024 alone. These interventions not only reduce dropout rates but also empower the needy groups, particularly orphans, widows, and pupils from low-income families, thereby promoting equality and sustainable access to basic education across disadvantaged communities.

Community Charity -

Hereafter Ghana's charity programmes are driven by compassion and a deep sense of solidarity with families facing hardship. They are designed to meet basic human needs and bring comfort to those most affected by poverty. Through their clothing donation drives, the organization has distributed over 20,000 clothing to children, widows, and families in deprived rural communities, mostly in Northern Ghana, helping to restore dignity. During Ramadan, they supported over 1,500 fasting families each year with food packages, and in the past three years alone, more than 4,500 households in the Northern Region have benefited from this project. In addition, their annual 'Qurbani' programme has provided fresh meat to over 12,000 individuals during Eid celebrations, allowing families to celebrate the post fasting season with Joy. Hereafter Ghana also extends ongoing monthly support to widows and orphans, having reached over 800 widows and 1,200 orphans with food, clothing, educational assistance, and small stipends. These acts of charity continue to bring hope, relieve hardship, and foster a sense of belonging among the most vulnerable members of the communities they touch.

Women Economic Empowerment -

Hereafter Ghana believes true and lasting development happens when women and youth are empowered to create opportunities for themselves and their families. Through their 'Women and Livelihood Empowerment' initiatives, Hereafter Ghana supports women to gain profitable skills, build sustainable sources of income and improve their quality of life. Many of these women are widows and single mothers from underserved communities who only need a small push to turn their potential into progress. The organization's goal is to help mothers raise income not only to care for their newborns, children and families but also to have a decent livelihood. By empowering these women, Hereafter Ghana is helping to break the cycle of poverty and build stronger, more independent families and communities.

Between 2024 and 2025 with intensive support in structures and tools from the New Africa Fund, Hereafter Ghana has established two social enterprises in order to plough back the profits to its social initiatives and operations. These include:

1. Hereafter Studio, a photography and videography venture providing quality cinematography services at competitive prices.

2. FundXcelerate Consultancy, providing local fundraising training, local philanthropy education, and resource mobilisation consultancy to individuals, organisations and communities.

A portion of the proceeds from these ventures is reinvested to sustain and expand Hereafter Ghana’s sustainability, programmes and community development projects.
